OK Dinghy Inland Championship 2014 - Expecting a bumper turnout

by Simon Cox on 29 Sep 2014
OK Dinghy Inland Championship Synergy Marine
The OK Inland Championship takes place this coming weekend, 4th-5th October, at Northampton SC. We're expecting a bumper turnout at a class favourite venue. With 41 boats at the Nationals, can we improve on this at the Inlands?

This year Jim Hunt has been dominant domestically, winning almost every event he’s been to on home soil as well as the Belgian Nationals. So will we see his dominance challenged? Placed second overall at the Nationals, Lee Child has been putting in some great results recently with victory at Morecambe. Robert Deaves, was back to winning ways at Waldringfield over the weekend and knows how to drive an OK fast in all conditions. There are also rumours of a couple of new faces from the Phantom class putting in an appearance – they know where the best racing is! What about Nick Craig? We've not seen much of him this year but we’re expecting him back to defend the title he won last year. Whatever happens there's going to be some tight, competitive racing throughout the fleet.

The briefing takes place at 10:45 followed by the first race at 12:10. Six races are scheduled over the weekend with four on Saturday and two on Sunday allowing for an early getaway. Cost of the event is a bargain £25 (£15 for juniors). Dinner is available at the club in the evening for £8.50 and camping is free on the Saturday night. All-in-all it is a bargain event. If you’ve got an OK this is an event not to Event website
