Mirrors at Saltash

by Martin Egan on 24 Apr 2012
Mirrors at Saltash 2012 UK Mirror Sailing http://ukmirrorsailing.cz.cc/index.php
Six Mirrors enjoyed some close racing on the Tamar river, just north of the road and rail bridges. With the tide flooding, Martin and Harvey made the most of the conditions to record two bullets with Tom and Niamh second, Esme and Scarlett in their new boat 'Bootle Bumtrinket' third in the first race.

In the second race it was very close for second, third and fourth with Rebecca and Lisa taking second with Tom and Niamh somehow edging out Callum and Josh right on the line to take third place.

After lunch with the tide now slack and starting to turn Tom (powered by sandwiches) and Niamh nailed the third race to win by a margin from Martin and Harvey with Rebecca and Lisa close behind in third. It was all going to hinge on the last race, but with Harvey feeling unwell Martin was forced to retire. Tom and Niamh went on to record another first from Rebecca and Lisa second and Callum and Josh third.

First Tom and Niamh, second Martin and Harvey, third Rebecca and Lisa, best Rookie boat Esme and Scarlett. Thanks to Saltash SC for hosting the event, some great sailing and great prizes. Next event is at Restronguet SC on Sunday 27th May.
