Magic Marine RS Vareo Winter Championships overall

by Matt Yallop on 17 Mar 2015
RS Vareo Winter Championships GWSC Race Team
Magic Marine RS Vareo Winter Championships - A select group of committed RS Vareo sailors met at Grafham for the first event of the year.

The wind speed both days was a nice 15 to 25mph in a cool onshore breeze. Sharing the windward leeward course and the starts was the RS100 fleet. A clean start in all 5 races the Vareo racers Nick Crickmore, Cheryl Wood and Matt Yallop held their own and battled up the beats. First around the windward mark would be Matt closely followed by Cheryl and Nick. The windy slowly building on both days the Vareo team managed to pull some fast downwind sailing at times to the surprise of the 100 fleet at the leeward mark rounding. Matt, Cheryl and Nick enjoyed some close battles throughout the racing but the results for the first race would follow throughout the weekend.

We all agreed that it had been a great event with fast race turnarounds achieved by a very professional race team. Consistency was definitely the order of things. Thanks go to Clare Sargent and the Grafham team.
