London Olympics 2012 - Australian sailing preview for day 12

Australia’s Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page are set to go head-to-head with Great Britain’s Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell on Thursday in a fight for the 470 men’s gold medal.

Belcher and Page will take a four point lead over the British into the decider after winning the final two fleet, and as long as the Australians finish within one place of the hometown crew the gold will be theirs. The top two crews are already guaranteed at least a silver medal.

Australian Results from Wednesday:

49er – Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen – 4th in medal race – 56 points – Gold medal winners
470 women – Elise Rechichi and Belinda Stowell – 4/1 – 67 points – 6th overall
Women’s Match Racing – Olivia Price, Nina Curtis and Lucinda Whitty – qualified for semifinal following 3-1 win over the Netherlands
