At the London Boat Show four new digital green guides for iPad and iPhone have been launched today on RYA Digital Day by The Green Blue, the joint environment project of the RYA and the BMF.

The Green Guide to Coastal Boating, The Green Guide to Inland Boating, The Green Guide for Charter Companies and The Green Guide to Outboard Efficiency have all been available from The Green Blue in hard copy but have now been digitised and added to the suite of RYA e-books.

Jane Swan, The Green Blue Project Manager, said: 'It makes perfect sense for The Green Blue to offer more of its leaflets and guides in digital format in order to reduce the volume of printed material we distribute as well as make our advice available to generations of boaters who prefer to use their electronic devices to keep up to date.'

The guides contain a range of top tips for recreational boaters on how to minimise the impact of boating on the environment, including choosing the right type of antifoul, using environmentally friendly cleaners on board or maximising outboard efficiency to reduce emissions and save money.

To access the e-books, download the free ‘RYA Books’ app from iTunes and touch the ‘Catalogues & Brochures’ to find the publication.

The Green Blue is the joint environment initiative created by the British Marine Federation and Royal Yachting Association to encourage a more sustainable recreational boating sector. Launched in 2005 at the PSP Southampton Boat Show, the project enjoys the support of The Crown Estate’s Marine Stewardship Programme and the Environment Agency.
