It's been a busy couple of weeks with the Sailing World Cup

by World Sailing on 4 May 2016
Sailing World Cup Hyères World Sailing
The 2016 Sailing World Cup was at its third stop in Hyères, France last week and there was plenty of action, to go with a variety of different weather conditions. When people say every day was different, they must have got that saying from this event. There was strong wind, then no wind. Sun, then rain. There was even a bit of thunder and lightning in the mix for the LIVE Medal Races.

It wasn't just the conditions, it was also the results that were varied. Evi Van Acker (BEL) completed a hat-trick in the Laser Radial as she won for the third consecutive year, while Matthew Bugg (AUS) won his first ever international event in the 2.4 Norlin OD.

In the midst of the racing, we announced that Melbourne will be the end goal for the 2016 Sailing World Cup sailors as the final was confirmed to take place out of the St Kilda Sailing Precinct.

We also recently confirmed dates for the Sailing World Cup Qingdao. So for these are the dates to put in your diary for the rest of the Sailing World Cup year ahead:

Weymouth and Portland - 6-12 June 2016
Qingdao - 19 - 25 September
Sailing World Cup Final, Melbourne - 4 - 11 December 2016

It's been a busy couple of weeks with the Sailing World Cup, so to catch up on anything you missed, or for any information you need head to the Sailing World Cup website.

While Australia have the Sailing World Cup Final, we announced today that their Trans-Tasman neighbours New Zealand will play host to the 2016 Youth Sailing World Championships.

Yachting New Zealand will host the event from 14 - 20 December 2016 following a comprehensive selection process which began in March 2016 when the Oman Sailing Committee exercised the right to withdraw their hosting of the event. You can read about the announcement here.
