Irish Squib Nationals to take place at Royal North

by ISA on 21 Mar 2014
Irish Squib Nationals Irish Sailing Association . http://www.sailing.ie
Planning for this year’s Squib Nationals is already well underway at the Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club and organisers are hoping that there will be the largest entry for the event for some years. With new fleets emerging all the time and when 29 boats can turn up to Lough Derg in late October it seems reasonable to assume that they should get at least 40 boats in sunny Royal North from the ninth - 11th of August.

The RNIYC urge you to put the date in your dairy now. No point waiting until May or June when you already have the family holiday planned. Set the date in stone for the Irish Nationals now and plan around it to be part of the largest event for years. Squibs have now been sailing at Royal North for almost 50 years – make it a party.

If you haven’t been to Royal North recently, they have a new static electric crane which makes launching a breeze and as usual they will have a team of fellow Squibbers on hand to help and allow you to maximise your time in the very comfortable facilities of our recently refurbished clubhouse.

Organisers hope to make the event enjoyable for all. With good race management from their very experienced team to suit the lads (and lassies) up at the sharp end to those private mid-fleet battles and beyond - the racing (and prizes) will be for everyone.

Of course you will all finish in the same place (the bar) and we have already a relaxed social program arranged right from the moment you arrive on Friday evening until you sadly depart on Monday afternoon. Food, music, and refreshment, along with the usual craic, punctuate the weekend programme making it unnecessary to go anywhere else.

Fred Campbell has been appointed as the person to get as many Squibs here as possible so if you have any special requirements or questions e.g. loan of a road trailer, accommodation, early/late arrival etc., please don’t hesitate to contact him. No excuses, he wants you here.
