The guidelines for the nomination and selection of the Australian Youth Sailing Team to compete at the 2013 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship has been released by Yachting Australia.

The 2013 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship will be held in Limassol, Cyprus, between July 11 and 20 with racing to take place in eight classes, Laser Radial for boys and girls, 420 for boys and girls, open 29er, open multihull and windsurfer for boys and girls.

To be eligible for the 2013 Australian Youth Sailing Team a sailor must be under the age of 19 at 31 December, 2013, and a current member of an Australian club affiliated with a State or Territory Yachting Association. A copy of the selection policy can be found here with further information available here.

A number of regattas will be used to determine the team with the scenario different for each class. Yachting Australia will conduct a nomination point score for the events, with the results used to select the Australian Youth Sailing Team.

The boys and girls Laser Radial representatives will be decided from results from the 2013 Australian Laser Radial Championship which will be held between 28 December and 4 January and the 2013 OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Championship, being conducted between 6 and 10 January. Both events will be held at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.

The Australian representative for the 420 boys and girls class will be decided following the 2013 Australian 420 Championship at Derwent Sailing Squadron between 28 December and 4 January, and the 2013 OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Championship.

The 29er class crew will be selected from results at the 2013 Australian 29er Championship, being held between 27 December and 2 January at McCrae Yacht Club in Victoria, and the 2013 OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Championship.

One event will be used to decide the boys and girls windsurfers crews, being the 2013 OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Championship.

By prior agreement with the class association the open multihull crew will also be selected from one event, being the 2013 Australian Hobie 16 Championship, to be held at Port Melbourne Yacht Club between 28 December and 3 January.
