Finn Pictorial - Valencia shows off the best recent conditions

After the announcement of the joint venture between the Finn Class and the Dinghy Academy here), Valencia has been showing off some of its best conditions for the assembled Finn sailors in recent months.

Top Finn sailor Vasiliy Zbogar (SLO) commented, 'Valencia is one of the best places in the world to train. We have always had good wind and weather.'

There to capture these moments is the talented Pavlina Soukupova who has not only brought the tough challenge of Finn sailing to life with startling clarity, but has also turned Finn photography into a fascinating art form.

Medal deciding day on Saturday 23 July, and the breeze ramped up in a final test for teams, just to make sure the medallists rising to the front were truly challenged across all conditions.

RS Vareos at Burnham on Crouch Sailing Club Asymmetric Open
A total of 16 boats competed: a mixed fleet of four RS Vareos, three RS200s, seven RS Fevas, a Buzz and a 29er. With a good W/SW stiff breeze a windward leeward course was set with the beat against the tide, the windward mark close to the South shore and the leeward gate on the other side. The start line was in the middle of the river and had to be crossed on each upwind leg.

RS300 Northern Double Header – Day two at Glossop SC
The fleet got away cleanly and some close fighting all the way up the beat meant Alistair McLaughlin rounded first Day two dawned breezy and a little grey at Glossop SC but as promised by 1030hrs the sun was shining and seven RS300s, along with 18 Supernovas, were lining up for the start in a steady force three. The race officer had used the entire length of the lake meaning a 1.25 mile beat.
