The Festival of Sails, the biggest annual keel boat regatta in the Southern Hemisphere, hammered a deal with sailing gear-maker Gill to stage this year's record-breaking regatta in Geelong.

The Festival of Sails is the largest annual keel boat regatta in the Southern Hemisphere with over 400 yachts and 4300 competitors annually taking part in the event.

Gill is very proud to become a sponsor of the event this year as the exclusive apparel supplier.

Paul Schulz from Gill Australia comments,

' We are very excited to be involved with Festival of Sails in Geelong. Without a doubt this is Australia’s largest keelboat regatta and offers Gill a great platform to showcase some fantastic new Gill product for the 2013 season along with providing the staff and volunteers with some great Gill kit to wear on and off the water in what will be a very hectic few days. We feel very privileged to be partnering Festival of Sails and this iconic event adds to the growing list of high profile regattas Gill are now involved with around the world.'

Hosted by Royal Geelong Yacht Club along the stunning waterfront of historical Geelong, it incorporates both a sailing regatta and a community waterfront festival.

In 2013, over 400 yachts are expected to compete across the 15 different classes which range from performance keel boats to sports boats and this year includes the A class catamaran southern championships.

The waterfront festival is also a great day out for the whole family with three stages featuring performances and live music, over 80 stalls to visit, fine food and wine, art and craft, a kids zone, an on-water ‘come and try zone’ a marine trade and boating lifestyle exhibition, fireworks and of course some thrilling sailing to watch.

Gill will be providing support to the event through staff and volunteer uniforms, competitor gifts and regatta prizes. There will also be a range of Gill clothing featuring the attractive Festival of Sails logo, the perfect event souvenir.

Gill has a strong presence in the marine clothing market, a connection with the Festival of Sails is a great opportunity to connect with consumers and exhibit some great new products.

For the duration of the Festival of Sails, Gill will have a stall within the event area at Royal Geelong Yacht Club. A wide range of Gill technical marine clothing and equipment will be on show along with the event merchandise.

This years event will run from Thursday 24 to Monday 28 January.
