Comanche onboard Transatlantic record images by Daniel Forster

Comanche onboard Transatlantic record - 2015 Transatlantic Race Daniel Forster / NYYC
2015 Transatlantic – Photographer Daniel Forster was onboard on Comanche before the transatlantic start. Read his impressions.

I was invited by Comanche to do some onboard photography two days before the Transatlantic Start in Newport.

It was quite an experience to walk the 30.5 meters (100 feet) to document sail changes or Ken Read running almost 7.80m (25ft 6in) from leeward wheel to the windward wheel.

The most exciting part was to climb (get hoisted) to the top of the 46.00m (150ft) mast and see the 22 crew members running around like ants down on the deck...

There was definitely tension onboard hoping to break Rambler100's Transatlantic Record and attack the 24-hour record.

We now know that the 24-hour record got broken! Comanche covered 618 miles!
