Clipper Ventures Plc has appointed Premier Shipping & Packaging Limited (PSP) as the Official Logistics Partner for the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race.

The partnership marks the third consecutive time the worldwide boat transportation and logistics company has partnered the world’s longest ocean race.

Founder and Chairman of the Clipper Race, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, said: 'I don’t think people appreciate just how vital it is to have a good reliable shipping company when running an international event like the Clipper Race. It is therefore excellent news that PSP will once again be the Official Logistics Partner for Clipper and we welcome them back on board.'

The agreement builds on PSP’s years of specialist experience in the sector, with the sponsor of the PSP Southampton Boat Show also the Official Logistics Partner for the Global Ocean Race and a logistics consultant to the America’s Cup.

PSP will again take charge of moving the Clipper Race containers 40,000 miles around the globe, as competitors battle it out for victory on the water. The task is an important one as the containers are filled with vital equipment, required for maintenance due to the gruelling nature of the eleven-month race.

Frank Dixie, Managing Director of PSP, said: 'We have a fantastic relationship with the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. The organisers of these events, who have the eyes of the world on them, need to know that their equipment and their boats will be exactly where they’re needed, when they’re needed and that’s the capability we deliver.

'I’m proud that we have got to a position in this unique market where organisers of some of the greatest sailing races in the world know that they can rely on us. It’s an incredible journey that we have been on since we first broke into the marine sector eight years ago. Boat transportation now makes up 20 per cent of our business.'

The ninth edition of the world’s longest ocean race will start at St Katharine Docks, London on Sunday 1st Clipper Round the World website
