Book your spot on the RYA Active Marina Experience

by Susie NationGrainger on 27 Aug 2014
If you’re interested in refreshing your boating skills and picking up some top tips from expert instructors, then sign up today for the RYA Active Marina Experience which is returning to the PSP Southampton Boat Show (12-21 September).

From berthing and boat handling to man overboard, the free on-the-water and shore based workshops will once again provide visitors with the opportunity to update their knowledge and gain some real hands-on experience throughout the show.

RYA Yachting Development Officer Guy Malpas explains: 'We’re delighted that the RYA Active Marina Experience is returning to the show. For 2014, on the water workshops will take place on two First Match 40’s, a Sealine sc29 sport cruiser, and a 6.5m RIB.

'The ‘experience’ has proved to be extremely popular for the last two years with workshops becoming fully booked up every day so we strongly advise people to book in advance.'

Visitors have the opportunity to book all 10:30-12:00 on-water sessions in advance through the online booking system on the RYA Active Marina website. You can also book by visiting the ‘Try-a-Boat’ booking point on stand A140, when you arrive at the main entrance of the show.

The increasingly popular shore based workshops will be held on the Which Marina Stand (F004) and can also be booked in advance through the online booking system or on the day at the Which Marina stand.

Navionics are offering the first 50 people who pre-book a shore based workshop, a free award-winning Navionics Chart Plotter iPhone app.

Guy concludes: 'People who take part in the Active Marina Experience often tell us how much they’ve learnt and how worthwhile it has been, no matter how long they’ve been boating'.
