Bala Easter Regatta 2015 overall

by John Hunter on 10 Apr 2015
Easter Regatta - Bala Easter Regatta 2015 John Hunter
Thirty-two boats entered the Bala Easter Regatta 2015 which was split into an Asymmetric fleet on a windward leeward course and a Handicap fleet racing around the cans.

The wind on Saturday was North Easterly blowing around 5 to 10 knots, but with little or no wind forecast for the Sunday the Race Officer decided to run four races on Saturday. Despite some big shifts that saw the windward mark being moved half-way across the lake at one point, the race officer did a great job of turning around the races very quickly. The Race Officer was also proved right about there being no wind on Sunday & by noon racing was abandoned.

The Asymmetric crown went to Dan Partington of Bala SC in a Vareo, followed by Steve Bales & Kurtis Hilton in an RS400, & in third place Will Rushworth in an RS100.

In the Fast Handicap fleet David Summerville from Grafham took the win with four first places, followed by Richie Allen in his K1, then Keith McDonald & Andy Brittain in a Fireball.

The smaller Slow Handicap fleet made up mainly of Solos was won by Dave Eccles followed by Jim Young then Mark Jones.
