In a well organised Olympic class program leading up to London 2012, Australian out campaigned all comers in the 2012 World Sailing Cup season as the overall results showed after the final event in the series, Kiel Week. Interesting that Tom Burton beat Tom Slingsby over the course of the year, sailing at more events and sailing very consistently.

Most Olympic sailors are training in Weymouth at the moment, but Brendan Casey sailed into second place in the Finn class in Kiel.

In this epic year for Australia's Olympic sailing team, the Sail-World Team will be in Weymouth some days before racing starts to bring you the build up.

Next week the Performance Sailcraft Australia sponsored Laser Radial Youth Worlds starts at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, so far there are 67 young men and 33 young ladies in this fleet. We will bring you all the news and action.

Olympics 2016 Equipment The story of the ISAF vote lost by the Windsurfing fraternity to Kite boarding is rolling on, with more tales of delegates voting against their regions instructions continuing.

Richard Gladwell has provided a detailed analysis. Most extraordinary might have to be the vote by the Singaporean delegate, considering kite boating is totally banned in Singapore because of airport height restrictions.

Not sure where this will all go yet but we will have more interviews on this in the coming days.

Meanwhile there was a Kiteboarding test event at Kiel Week.

Aussie sailing Legend Rolly Tasker died last night, aged 86. The Olympic silver medallist was a sail-making pioneer, who established his Phuket based sail-making business before most Australians had even thought about offshore manufacturing .

Rolly died peacefully in Australia at 2am today, his family says. His is survived by Kerry, his third wife, who makes a home on Phuket and in Western Australia.

Very bad news in the last few days as searchers failed to find the two missing Australian sailors Ian Thompson and Erwin Claus, after their cruising vessel Navillus ran aground on the verging reefs the island of Late, west of Vava’u, Tonga last Thursday night.

The Northern series is coming up fast. Have you entered yet???

If you know you are going, the Organisers, Clubs, Volunteers and Media would love you to enter NOW. You can make all the planning much easier if you enter as early as possible.
