by International Melges 24 Class Association on 29 Mar 2015
Marusia UKR-819 - Melges 24 European Sailing Series - Portoroz IM24CA/Zerogradinord
Heavy rain was gone for the second day of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2015 first event organized by the Yachting Club Portoroz. Instead of the sun, clear blue sky and lighter NE wind Bora were the key-words of the day allowing complete four races. With seven races altogether today's score will take into account one discard.

For the most of the sailors coming from the North the weather today was like a gift after the long-time of darkness and no sailing. The sun in clear blue sky and a nice sea breeze on the water kicked off the spring feeling in full. Even so that the first race of the day was abandoned because of dropping wind. During the next two races average wind velocity was 10-11 knots and was decreasing a bit again for the last race of the day.

Riccardo Simoneschi's team Audi tron (ITA-840) with one bullet, two second results and their worse so far - third position, remained their extending lead in front of the fleet with eight points. From the yesterday's third position climbed to the second Peder Jahre's team Storm Capital Sail Racing (NOR-751) gaining the bullet in the final race, two third positions and for the discard seventh place in today's first race. Norwegian team is 11 points behind of Italian Audi tron by the end of the second day. Austrian team Four and a half men (AUT-681) with Franz Urlesberger' team managed to jump from the yesterday's fifth place to the Top 3 even they got black flag disqualification on the today's second race together with another six boats. Being five points behind on the third position, Urlesberger is only one point ahead of David Rowen's Imagine (GBR-557).

In the overall ranking on the fifth position today is the current Pro Am (Corinthian) leader Hungarian FGF Sailing Team (HUN-728) with Robert Bakoczy's team. Five points separates the second Pro Am team Kesbeke/SIKA/Gill (NED-827) with Ronald Veraar' team from the leader being tied with Ukrainian team Marusia (UKR-819) with Oleg Dyvinets in helm.

The racing in Portoroz will continue on Sunday at 11:00 although the wind forecast is not so promising.
