Day 1 - 2015 Gul Falmouth Dinghy Week Chris Williams
2015 Gul Falmouth Dinghy Week – With light winds forecast this fantastic sunny day proved a little challenging as a dying wind met an incoming tide putting some competitors into a stranglehold. For the faster sailors it was more a test of skill and interesting for all that. Two out of three races were completed and enough wind returned at the end to get the fleet back to the shore.
A mixed fleet of 46 competitors met for a fun Regatta in the Carrick Roads, Falmouth, with visitors from around the country, some dinghies were based at Restronguet Sailing Club, others were based at St Mawes sailing club. The course was a mixture of Windward-Leewards and Triangles providing good sailing for all classes.
The weeks sailing involves a further two days of series racing followed by a harbour race and then a fun race on Friday. Hopefully the weather will remain friendly, the forecast needs to improve though!
