Top sailors rising to the top on Day 2 of dinghy racing at Phuket King's Cup Regatta

Three races were on the cards, and completed, today for the Optimist class on the dinghy course, and the classic Phuket sailing conditions – blue skies and moderate winds – made for some good racing amongst the 39-strong fleet.

A slow start for Pongsapat Poomyam scoring a sixth in race one today was soon forgotten as he took two wins in the final two races and leads the standing with two days to go. Sitting just one point behind after races is Kitipoon Kumjorn who scored 3,3,2. Anapat Ngarmdee, despite a 4,5,4 today sits in third overall and still in touch with the leaders.

In the Laser class, DNS was recorded for the entire fleet in race three of the day.

Kamolwan Chanyim scored two bullets to hold on to the series lead ahead of Nuttapol Srihirun with two seconds and Manut Plotong with two thirds.

Akapoj Kankaew put a stain on his faultless record today. After two more wins on the day, he scored a DNS in the final race, and is tied on 11 points at the top of the series standings.

Sallawutt Kullaatt scored 2,2,1 and sits in second overall with Japupakorn Saeton lying in third.
