Too Cool takes first place at the Sunshine Coast Ocean Regatta 2014

by Del Morrison on 10 Aug 2014 Sunshine Coast Ocean Regatta 2014 - The newly revived Sunshine Coast Ocean Regatta (SCOR) was concluded after Race 5 on 8th August. After the effect of a discard, the result took some competitors by surprise with Denis Dean’s Farr 1020, Too Cool, the overall winner of SCOR 2014.

Winners of SCOR 2014 were presented with prizes generously donated by Norths Sails. They were:

First Place: Denis Dean on Too Cool (crewed by Richard Campbell-Smith and Barry Elwin-Jones)
Second Place: Ian Brownhill on Jade Rose
Third Place: David Hopkins on Perception

All competitors agreed it was a perfect day’s sailing to finish a great regatta at one of the best sailing venues in the Country. Winners of Race five were:

First Place: John Stark on New Tricks
Second Place: Denis Dean on Too Cool
Third Place: Craig Ferguson on Sofala

'The aim of the regatta to enjoy the sailing was successfully achieved by Race Committee, volunteers and sailors alike' commented Principal Race Officer, Tony Gage. Competitors were happy that the Regatta was held so close to home so that they and their boats did not have such a long trip home.

Presentations to the winners were made at The Yacht Club, the venue of dozens of presentations to SCOR winners in previous years. It was a busy night for The Yacht Club but the food was excellent with a good choice of quality wines.

Competitors and the committee agreed that it was a great restart of SCOR and given that it was the first year of the revival, it was very successful. The Sunshine Coast Yacht Club Committee is already at work planning SCOR 2015 and looking forward to again hosting competitors at one of the most beautiful locations in Australia.
