Telcoinabox Airlie Beach Race Week day 6 - All to play for

Performance Racing start line - Telcoinabox Airlie Beach Race Week 2012 Telcoinabox Airlie Beach Race Week
On the final day of racing at the 23rd annual Telcoinabox Airlie Beach Race Week many Class placings are as yet undecided.

The Race Committee set the traditional last day’s course as the Pioneer Bay Large Triangle, with the Multihulls to be the first division away, their warning signal set for 09.40am.

The forecast for today in the Bay is for lighter winds, transitioning from a morning west-south-west land breeze to a south-easter later in the day, with the inevitable gap in between.

Who will be the overall winners at the end of the day?

Just four points separate the top three boats in IRC Cruising, one point separates the top three OMR Multihulls, and four points separate the top three IRC Cruising boats while just two separate the top three in Cruising Non Spinnaker division. In the other divisions, IRC Racing, Sports Boats, Cruising Class Divisions 1 and 2, and Performance Racing the battle is on for the minor podium places.

So as the saying goes ‘all is to play for.’

With the prospect of another beautifully clear and warm Whitsunday day ahead, crews this morning are looking forward to a competitive final day’s racing and no doubt to the after race partying at the Whitsunday Sailing Club.

Stay tuned.
