Team Alpari FX (the former Blackmatch Racing Team) report from the Korea Match Cup on the AWMRT Match Tour

Hi All,

At the end of a rollercoaster week, Team Alpari FX finished up in Korea with a respectable 3rd position, winning out over Ian Williams in the petit final to secure 2nd position on the overall Tour Points Table.

After a convincing quarterfinal win over the Waka Racing boys, it was our turn to be on the wrong end of a severe beating, losing out 3-0 to an impressive Taylor Canfield and his USone Racing Team. Not to say we didn't have our chances against the young American, we just didn't bring our ‘A Game’, the video link below pretty much says it all.

Following the disappointment of losing to Canfield, we were set to race an even more disappointed Ian Williams in the petit final. Williams and his GAC Pindar crew totally dominated the Qualifying stages and blitzed their way into the semi finals, only to be halted by Mathieu Richard in an impressive display of sailing from the Frenchman who eventually went on to win the event. In a one race petit final, the winner getting the remaining podium position, we dominated the prestart and went on to sail to a hard earned win that saw us leap frog the Brit on the overall Tour standings.

Overall we felt we struggled to get our heads around the shifty conditions here in Korea, the team never felt we really hit our straps as we did in Germany, so all in all we are very happy to come away with a 3rd position.

For now it’s a few days off for most of the boys, however Tom has flown straight to Sardinia for the Super Yacht Cup. Next week sees most of Team Alpari FX racing against each other in the competitive mini maxi class at Giraglia Race Week. Chris and Nick are on the brand new Alegre, Adam is on the Stig and Dave is on Shockwave, before heading to Sweden for the next Tour event.

Thank you for all your support and yet again we would like to thank our sponsors Alpari and Line 7 Events Clothing. Team Alpari FX are Adam Minoprio, Chris Main, Tom Powrie, David Swete and Nick Blackman. For more info please visit http://www.wmrt.com/ or follow us on twitter @TeamAlpariFX .
