Stunning double whammy for Yammie!

Yamaha outboards, New Zealanders’ favourite outboards for more than 20 years, have scored a stunning double: winning major American marine industry customer satisfaction and innovation awards on virtually the same day.

In mid-September, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced that they had, for the 12th consecutive year, awarded Yamaha the outboard engine category’s Customer Service Index Award for excellence in customer satisfaction.

The following day, the NMMA then teamed up with Boating Writers International (BWI) at annual International Boatbuilders' Exhibition and Conference, to honour Yamaha with a prestigious Innovation Award for the company’s popular 200hp four-cylinder, four-stroke F200 In-Line Four.

Yamaha Motor NZ’s Greg Fenwick says the two awards are an incredible 'double' and recognise the importance that Yamaha places on both on-going innovation and continuing customer satisfaction.

'One of the reasons Yamaha outboards are so popular, both here and around the world, is that our designers and engineers are always looking for ways to make better, more powerful and more environmentally-friendly engines,' he says.

'For example, in just the last few years, Yamaha has released the world’s first V8 350hp 5.3-litre four stroke outboard, the world’s first plasma-fused cylinders in a marine application, Yamaha’s unique Shift Dampening System and, of course, the incredible F200, the world’s lightest 200hp 4-stroke outboard.'

The NMMA’s Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Awards are the most prestigious customer satisfaction awards in the marine world. They were launched in 2001 to provide US boat and engine manufacturers with an independently measured, cost-effective way of improving customer satisfaction.

Yamaha is the only outboard manufacturer to have won the NMMA’s CSI award every year since its inception!

'That is an incredible achievement,' says Greg Fenwick. 'That dedication to looking after our customers, coupled with almost continual innovation, is the reason why Yamaha has been New Zealanders’ first choice of outboards for more than two decades.'
