Setting a new race record - Spindrift 2 crosses the finish line in the 2016 Transat Québec Saint-Malo Spindrift Racing
Yann Guichard and Dona Bertarelli’s Maxi trimaran Spindrift 2 crossed the finish line of the ninth edition of the Transat Québec Saint-Malo presented in collaboration with the City of Lévis - claiming the Ultimate Class victory - on Tuesday, July 19 at 11:17 p.m.
With a race time of 6 days, 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 41 seconds, Spindrift 2 averaged a speed of 20,99 knots over the 2,897-nautical mile course.
And with an actual distance travelled of 3212 nautical miles at an average speed of 22,1 knots, Spindrift 2 has now beaten the existing race record held by Loïck Peyron (Orma trimaran Fujicolor II) since 1996 with a time of 1 day, 19 hours, 6 minutes, and 19 seconds.
