It was a very busy day in Club Nàutic S’Arenal, with the qualification races starting today after the cancellation of the first day of the championship – Madrid 2016 because of the winds of 30 knots and big waves that dominated yesterday on the bay.

It was a tough day of competition both for the programme as for the weather conditions with constant capsizes in the racing areas - half of the fleet retired or did not finish in some race! Furthermore, the extreme conditions made some of the favourite teams such as Australian sailors Nathan Outteridge and Ben Austin (current world champions) and British team Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes (2007 world champions) drop down on the overall results (they are 16 and 26 respectively).

The fleet was split in two groups (blue and yellow), each of them in a different race course. The organization will maintain the same groups during all the qualification races.
