Sailors have just three weeks to get their entries in the 48th Slam Combined High School (CHS) Championships - Australian premier schools racing event of 2014. A strong fleet is expected to enter the event which will feature some of NSW’s most talented youth sailors joined by sailors from visiting States (QLD and ACT) to battle it out between Saturday 12th April and Wednesday 16th April.

The young sailors will not only test their racing skills against top competition but will also have the chance to be crowned 2014 Australian Schools Champion.

Aust. All schools Sailing Convenor, Rod Carter commented: 'The CHS event is a relaxed fun regatta where sailors often try new classes or crews for the next upcoming season and we are privileged to have the continued support of Slam and DeckHardware as major sponsors of the event’

Race organisers are expecting a last minute flood of entries in the championship. Entries so far include a range of classes from Sabots, Lasers, F11, Cherubs, 29ers, 12ft Skiffs, Multihulls, Melges 20 and even a VX One. Entries will be accepted right up until the close of registration on the first day of racing, Saturday 12th April.

The racing format for the regatta will involve nine races over the five days with all races on trapezoidal courses. This format proved to be a great success last year. There are a number of off the water event too, including a welcome BBQ after the first day of racing, Slam and DeckHardware stores, and the event concludes with a presentation evening.

Competitors are reminded that the entry deadline for the Slam Combined High Schools Championship is up until registration on Saturday 12th April. The Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions have now been published and can be found here.
