The Australian division of global marine electronics giant Navico has appointed Glenn Davidson as Simrad’s national business development manager.

Mr Davidson has worked in the marine industry since 1999, as Quintrex’s sales and marketing manager and, most recently, Haines Hunter’s national sales and marketing manager.

Following on from his successes across these two companies, Mr Davidson said his core focus in the new role was to firmly establish Simrad as the leader in professional and high-end recreational marine electronics.

'Simrad is acknowledged throughout Europe and other parts of the world as the most respected electronics brand in yachting, motoryacht and commercial marine markets, and it’s my intention to replicate that in Australia,' Mr Davidson said.

'The massive product range includes autopilots, chartplotters, radar, sonar, gyrocompasses, GPS receivers and VHF radios, all of which are built to exacting standards and used by the most discerning boaters.

'As well as implementing an intensive corporate marketing campaign, I’ll be working closely with OEMs around the country to ensure they have access to a reliable supply of the most advanced navigation and communications equipment in the world.'

Navico general manager Todd Moore said the company’s specialist brand management structure placed it in good stead to achieve its corporate goals.

'With product specialists looking after each brand – Scott Amon across Lowrance/Eagle and now Glenn Davidson on Simrad – Navico’s future is extremely promising,' Mr Moore said.

'Glenn has an impressive skill set and proven track record, and I’ve no doubt he’ll utilise his marketing expertise and extensive contact network to cement Simrad as the premium electronics brand in the country.'

Based on Queensland’s Gold Coast – in the heart of Australia’s boat-building Mecca – Mr Davidson’s appointment is effective immediately.

Navico is responsible for the development, production and international marketing and distribution of marine electronics brands: Lowrance, Eagle, Simrad and B&G. Owned by Norwegian investment company Altor, Navico has approximately 2500 employees worldwide.
