Sanctuary Cove Boat Show on the Gold Coast is less than a week away and the Sail-World team is heading north from Sydney today and yes it will be warmer than here.
The Marine Business World pavilion is filled with the latest and greatest accessories in the boating industry
Our own MarineBusiness-World.com is once again the sponsor of the major event Pavilion, the sensibly named MarineBusiness-World.com pavilion with more than a third of the exhibitors joining us there. Please come by and say hello to us! We will be located at the left hand corner from the main entrance as we were last year. Once again, we will be providing detailed coverage of the event, with a full reporting team producing news reports including lots of video content.

The 17th annual Etchells Mid-Winters are coming up fast, Trevor Martin, the Mooloolaba Etchells fleet captain, detailed to us yesterday the excellent flow of entries for the June long weekend event. Another Who's Who of Australian sailing, with sixteen different skippers having won the title with no repeat winners, it’s a wide open event. John Bertrand will be on the Mooloolaba start line hoping he might win his first winter title too. Sail-World will be on the water reporting on the event as always.

ISAF President, Carlo Croce (ITA)
We note with interest that the new ISAF President Carlo Croce is openly critical of the current ISAF decision making processes. In his post mid-year meeting report he says that ‘We must look at the governance structure of ISAF. We have too many layers of decision making, which makes it harder to identify who is responsible for what and what progress is being made.'
We heartily agree. With Sail-World now having an increased UK and European presence, we are looking more closely at ISAF´s role on the World Sailing stage, there has been widespread criticism of ISAF decision making and we are asking some hard questions of ISAF at the moment on their Sailing World Cup format, we will keep you informed.
Laser Radial - 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Hyeres
With Australasia’s Laser builder Performance Sailcraft (PSA) be dragged unwillingly into the Bruce Kirby- ISAF-ILCA Laser court mess, we are asking ISAF to sit down with Kirby quickly so that the ongoing supply of Laser`s can be assured.
And to finish today, a local good news story with a kayaker surviving more than six hours in the ocean off Port Stephens on Sunday night. The kayaker had rented a lifejacket just minutes before setting out.
Kogarah Bay warehouse assistant Felipe Davoodifar, 26, who owns the kayak which was swamped on his return trip offshore from Nelson Bay with a friend, said he always wore a lifejacket when boating.
'I always wear a lifejacket but on Sunday I forgot to bring it. I almost went out without one but there’s a little hire kiosk on the beach and I picked one up - $15 for three hours. It was the best $15 I’ve ever spent,' he said.
Lots of news from the world stage today, we will stand aside now and let you get to it.
