Sailing – Shallow water-
by Sail World on 24 Nov 2005
From Terry, Byron Bay: When sailing in a sandy channel where the depths are uncertain and likely to be too shallow, never sail in the middle. Why?
ANSWER:
Because if you hit bottom, which way will you turn to get to deeper water? Always sail enough to one side of the channel, so if the keel touches bottom you’ll know which way to turn.
