London 2012 49er Gold Medallists, Australia’s Nathan Outteridge and Ian Jensen lead their Silver medal rivals, New Zealanders Peter Burling and Blair Tuke after the first day of the 2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup regatta in Hyeres.
A slow start from the Aussies, buried at the back of the fleet in the first race, but then they stormed home with a fifth and a first to lead from the Kiwis.
Burling and Tuke have not been beaten in a 49er regatta since the London Games, so they are clear favourites 15 months ahead of the Rio regatta.
Here is a pre-start interview with the Australians who are determined to take Gold in Rio, while at the same time campaigning hard with Artemis for the America’s Cup.
