Sail Mooloolaba 2012 - New sports boat Raptor dominates

Raptor flies through the swell off Mooloolaba - Sail Mooloolaba 2012 Teri Dodds http://www.teridodds.com
Mark Buchbach's newly launched Stealth 850 'Raptor' demonstrated that she could take the unofficial title of Australia's fastest sports boat with a dominating performance in her maiden regatta. Raptor cleaned all three races held at Mooloolaba yesterday as part of the 2012 ASBA Queensland State Titles.

The fresh out of the box Raptor also took all three races on SMS taking out the 2012 title ahead of 2011 winner Andrew Triggell's Shaw 650 'Peow Peow' and 2011 ASBA national champion Brett Whitbread aboard his Eagan 7.27 Blokes World. Current national title holder Darren Spence aboard his Melges 24 'Kaito' came in fourth.

Buchbach has been absent from the sports boat circuit for the last couple of seasons while he built his new boat but is no stranger to victory having taken out the 2009 ASBA Queensland title in similar gunslinger style on his Stealth 7 also named Raptor.

Special thanks for the ongoing support of our ASBA sponsors Gill, Hog's Breath Cafe, Sailing Bits, 3 Oceans Wine and Evolution Sails/DP.

Next hit out for the fleet will be the 2012 ASBA Airlie Beach regatta held in the surrounds of picturesque Whitsunday Islands in August.
