Sailors still to enter the 2014 Sail for Gold Regatta have until Friday 23 May to submit their online entries. More than 125 sailors, from 11 nations, across the eight Olympic and three Paralympic classes have already signed up to ensure they can take their place on the start line, when racing gets underway at the this flagship event on Monday 2 June.

Any competitors still to enter the event must do so by 23:59hrs (BST) this Friday, 23 May here.

The event, which is to be held on the Olympic and Paralympic waters of Weymouth and Portland and run by the Royal Yachting Association and the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, is the third stage of the 2014 EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup.

This week sees the second leg of the series kick off on Dutch waters at the the Delta Lloyd Regatta, Netherlands (20 - 24 May), followed by the Sail for Gold Regatta (2 - 6 June) before heading to Kiel Week, Germany, for the final leg (21-25 June).

The Sail for Gold entry list currently boasts a number of world class sailors, including the British Sailing Team’s top performers who will be out in force as they look to defend the EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup top Nation Trophy which was won in 2013.

Pete Allam, Sail for Gold Event Director, commented: 'Preparations for the event are well under way and it is shaping up to be a great regatta. Even though the numbers are not as high as previous years, the quality of entries are still there which will provide the sailors with a competitive racing environment. WPNSA is a superb venue which will provide the Olympic and Paralympic classes with a mixture of exciting as well as challenging conditions across the five days of racing.

'With only four days left to enter the Sail for Gold Regatta, it is crucial for anyone who is looking to stake their claim in the EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup that they apply online as soon as possible. We are unable to accept any entries after the deadline date – Friday 23 May.'
