Round and round the Plaza

by Guy Nowell, Sail-World Asia on 14 Aug 2008
Qingdao Olympic Regatta 2008. Management day off - Rob Brown and Emmett Lazich go round and round the mulberry bush Guy Nowell http://www.guynowell.com
With the AP drooping sadly from its flag pole all day, there were plenty of people looking for something to do. Hanging out can occupy just so much time, and shopping, well…

So what do sailors do when there’s no sailing? And just as importantly, what do the team management do?

Ever-competitive (Aussies, they say, will bet on two flies crawling up a wall), here is Rob Brown (AUS Programme Manager) and Emmett Lazich (AUS 49er and Tornado Coach) whiling away an afternoon of inactivity. There are a lot of flag poles in the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre, and the trick here is to slalom round the almost-circle in the main plaza. This time Lazich did it in 1m 26 sec. Anyone care to have a crack at that?
