Crews from the 2007 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and interested followers will have the opportunity to re-live the highlights of last year’s historic race when the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia hosts a post-race dinner on Friday 15 February 2008.
One of the guest speakers will be Bob Oatley, the proud owner of the 30 metre maxi Wild Oats XI, which claimed its third consecutive line honours win with the 2007 Rolex Sydney Hobart, who has had a long association with the race.
Joining him on the panel will be Tom Addis, navigator of the overall winner Rosebud, to talk about the US STP65’s brilliant tactical race that saw them claim the coveted Tattersall’s Cup, the first American boat to do so in 30 years.
PHS overall winning skipper David Pescud from Sailors with disABILITIES will also give his account in a Q & A format that will be Emceed by 30-race veteran Peter Shipway who was aboard Wild Oats XI for its historic treble.
Tickets $80 for CYCA members, non-members $90 includes drinks on arrival, two course meal, coffee/tea petit fours and a three hour beverage package with cash bar thereafter.
Rolex’s Spirit of Yachting program on the Rolex Sydney Hobart 2007 will be shown on the big screen as will the race start as broadcast on Channel 7 on Boxing Day. Copies of the latter will be available for purchase on the night with proceeds going to the CYCA’s SOLAS Trusts.
