RYA Volvo Dinghy Show - On Saturday 5 March, the RYA will be officially launching two great new titles adding to its already extensive publications portfolio – RYA Optimist Coach Handbook and RYA Go Green!

At 10.30 (Coaching area, Panorama Hall) author Alan Williams, one of the world’s most experienced and admired Optimist coaches will be telling visitors all about his new book, RYA Optimist Coach Handbook, answer your questions and be available to sign your copy of the book.

The book covers everything from basic psychology and mental toughness to coaching techniques, the coaching plan and advanced boat handling. 'I really like the high intensity games included in the book', comments Stephen ‘Sparky’ Park OBE, RYA Olympic Manager.

Join Alan and the RYA Publications team for a glass of orange juice and breakfast treat and when you purchase a copy of the book through the RYA Shop you will be entered into a free prize draw to win a one day training session at Plas Menai in North Wales with Alan himself. The winner will be announced after 31 March when the competition closes.

Then at 16.00 on the Volvo Main Stage around the world yachtsman Mike Golding will be joining Claudia Myatt (author) and Dr Susie Tomson (technical editor) to launch the new RYA Go Green! book.

RYA Go Green! is the latest publication in the RYA children's range, helping youngsters learn all about the sea, how to use it wisely, wildlife and much more. It’s a great read for anyone interested in the environment or our blue planet.

Claudia commented: 'Drawing rock pools, learning about the Southern Ocean, finding jokes about fish and standing on the edge of a cliff looking at kittiwakes were some of the high points of researching and writing RYA Go Green!

'Special thanks to Dr Susie Tomson, who guided me patiently through the maze of information and to Mike Golding; who took time out from whizzing around on the ocean to help me show what it’s really like out there far from land. All sailors instinctively know that the sea is important. This book will help to explain just how much it affects us all!'

RYA Publications Manager Steen Ingerslev said of the new titles: 'Readers will get a real buzz from the exciting new RYA Optimist Coach Handbook. Whether you’re a coach or an Oppy parent looking for a deeper insight into what their kids are going through, it’ll become a real asset to this very passionate and competitive class.

'It’s one of those books that you know will have such a positive influence when you look all the useful tips, illustrations and games taken from Alan Williams’s wealth of expertise.

'As for RYA Go Green!, this is not only unique in the RYA range of publications but also in the market at large and with environmental issues playing a larger part in all our lives, we feel it is the right time for a book of this nature.

'I can promise you two things with this book, you’ll love all the bad jokes and come away feeling you’ve really learned something positive. This book can make a difference!'

Both books will be available for purchase at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show, in association with Yachts & Yachting and Suzuki over the weekend of 5-6 March, with a special show discount of 20 percent for RYA members.
