The RYA Ladies Team Racing Championship Finals are being held at Spinnaker Sailing Club during 10th and 11th March and will see some of the UK’s best female sailors competing for the overall championship title, as well as for the BUSA (British Universities Sailing Association) Women’s Trophy.
RYA Ladies Team Racing Championship 2012
Teams are being welcomed from clubs, class associations, alumni societies and schools, in addition to universities. Each team requires six women, with sailing taking place in Fireflies provided by the event organisers.
Entries have already been received from a number of teams; amongst them is 2011’s winning team which includes Claire Lasko (2011 BUSA Team Race Tour team member and 2008 ISAF Youth World champion) and Becky Kaldron, (past ISAF Youth World champion).
Other well-known female sailors who have previously taken part in this championship include Skandia Team GBR’s Lucy Macgregor, who has been selected to represent Team GB this summer in the women’s match racing discipline of the 2012 Olympic Games.
Being run under the joint expertise of Spinnaker Sailing Club and Wessex Sailing Club (Southampton University), this year’s event promises plenty of slick round-robin format racing during the daytimes topped off with a first-class social on Saturday night.
There is still time to enter the RYA Ladies Team Racing Finals; entries will remain open until Saturday 3rd March.
