At the Portimao Portugal Match Cup Johnie Berntsson (SWE) Berntsson Sailing Team fought back from 2-0 down against Torvar Mirsky (AUS) The Wave Muscat, the top ranked skipper in qualifying, to win 3-2 and send Mirsky home.

Berntsson said: 'To be picked by Torvar for the quarter finals and then come back from 2-0 down to win is a great thing and the team did an amazing job. The competition is so strong on the Tour and it just goes to show that anyone can beat anyone on their day.'

Mirsky added: 'Johnie did a great job out there today beating us in the starts of the last three races and that was the key to him winning. We’re feeling down after leading from qualifying and now we’re going home but that’s racing and we will come back stronger at the next event in Sweden.'

Current World Match Racing Tour leader Francesco Bruni (ITA) Bruni Racing joins Berntsson in the semi finals beating Jesper Radich (DEN) Adrian Lee and Partners 3-1.

Mathieu Richard (FRA) French Match Racing Team takes the fourth and final place in the semi finals defeating Peter Gilmour (AUS) YANMAR Racing 2-0 in a shortened quarter final match. Ian Williams (GBR) Team GAC Pindar earlier saw off a challenge from Bjorn Hansen (SWE) Mekonomen Sailing Team winning 3-1.
