Alex Mussolini having fun - PWA KIA Cold Hawaii World Cup 2011 Day 6 PWA World Tour http://www.pwaworldtour.com
The PWA KIA Cold Hawaii World Cup has now completed the sixth day of competition in Klitmoller and at the end of the day, PWA judge Thijs van der Meer out-powered the sailors in the King of KIA car pulling contest.

As one of the main sponsors for the KIA @coldhawaii world cup, KIA have donated a number of cars to ensure the smooth running of the event, alongside that they have also provided a number of prizes for the event, including an iPad 2 for the King of KIA competition.

It was a test of strength, power and brute force for the contestants including, the PWA pros, PWA Judges and event organizers. The contestants had to make best use of the rope and their manpower to pull the car over a twenty-meter distance. The competitor with the fastest time would walk away with a brand new iPad 2.

Wave ripper and currently ranked sixth in the world, Dario Ojeda (Tabou / Simmer / Dakine / MFC) was first to set a time of 27.42seconds. Next up it was high flying Alex Sanllehy with an amazing time of 22.21seconds. Dany Bruch (Starboard / Severne / AL 360) proved he had the power with time of 24.08 seconds, putting him in second.

It was then the extremely strong PWA judge Thijs van der Meer that smashed the record with a running finish and a time of 21.91 seconds. The ever-competitive Ricardo Campello (JP / NeilPryde / MFC) stepped up to the table with some fighting talk ‘I was born ready’, but he was unable to match Thijs.

Event organizer Rasmus Johnsen blew the crowds away with a new technique and with a record time of 20.11 seconds putting him straight into the lead. Commentator Roberto Hoffmann then made his attempt, and despite a valiant effort he was unable to match the leading time.

Final: In order to settle the competition fairly, the two contestants with the fastest time had to do battle one more time for the iPad 2. Thijs was up first and with a face of determination he pulled the car as fast as he could to set an amazing time of 20.24 seconds, Rasmus tried to match him, he pulled the car to the cheers of the crowd but he finished one second slower with a time of 21.28 seconds. PWA judge Thijs was presented with his prize to the applause of the spectators.

PWA judge Thijs van der Meer: 'I had loads of carbs last night, and I think it enhanced my performance, I am really happy with the win. I am going to give it to my mother as a present.’

With just one more day left of the 2011 KIA @coldhawaii world cup, all there is left to do is present the winners with their prizes.
