Powerboat P1 Management Ltd (P1) today unveiled its new P1-28SS race boat at Autosport International at the NEC in Birmingham, U.K. The new P1-28SS race boat is rigged with BRP's Evinrude 250 H.O. E-TEC engine.

Powerboat P1 Chairman Asif Rangoonwala said: 'There has been much speculation about which engine would be powering the new P1 SuperStock race boat for 2011. BRP’s outstanding environmental credentials were a key factor when considering which engine we should use on our racing boat. BRP was the first and is the only outboard engine manufacturer ever to receive the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean Air Technology Excellence Award in the U.S. The engine meets and surpasses emission standards of the EPA, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and the European Union.'

Powerboat P1 has launched a new race boat that is set to revolutionise the sport of mono-hull powerboat racing. The new P1-28SS boat has been in development for the past eight months and features the latest technology in safety, hull design, digital telemetry and data acquisition. The boat will debut in P1 Superstock National Championships in the U.K., the U.S. and Norway this year as part of a far-reaching overhaul of Powerboat P1’s sporting and commercial activities.

'This is BRP's first participation in a world-class racing series and we look forward to a continued successful collaboration in the future,' added Bernard Leblanc, vice-president and regional general manager for Western Europe, Middle East and Africa in BRP's International division.

P1 SuperStock is the world’s fastest-growing marine motorsport with teams competing on a level playing field of identical boats and engines. This means that competition is down to the skill of the team – pilot and navigator – making for exciting and credible racing.

'The Evinrude brand clearly sets the benchmark when it comes to the world of outboard engines and BRP's product is synonymous with dependability, durability, and the performance required in a race environment,' said Robert Wicks, Powerboat P1 chief operating officer. 'We are committed to move the sport of power boating to a new level and believe the Evinrude E-TEC engine will help us achieve that goal,' he concluded.
