Outremer makes Australian debut at Sanctuary Cove

Outremer 49 at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show Brent Vaughan
Outremer Yachts will make their Australian debut at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in 2014 with their iconic Outremer 49 design, previous winner of the European Yacht of the Year and a ground breaking design for the 30 year old French shipyard.

The Outremer 49 on display has recently sailed from France to New Zealand, and then to Australia just recently to attend the Sanctuary Cove and Sydney Boat Shows this year. Owners Mark and Lillian Mellsop-Melssen were thrilled by their blue water experience onboard, as Mark commented 'The boat handles blue water very well, and 240 miles a day is not a big deal with the right weather conditions.' Mark will be at the boat show also to give an owners experience along with an Outremer factory representative.

Outremer have established a name for themselves as builders of exceptionally high quality blue water performance catamarans, with nearly 250 boats cruising around the world. Using lightweight composite construction, offset daggerboards design and their famous tiller steering option, the Outremer range appeal to the experienced sailor and those who enjoy the thrill of sailing itself.

The range consists of three new production models, including brand new Outremer 45 due to be launched in July this year, an Outremer 51 which is the recent successor to the 49 and the 59ft Outremer 5X, winner of European Yacht of the Year in 2013 and USA Boat of the Year in 2014.

Outremer are distributed in Australia by Multihull Central based in Sydney, who also distribute the Seawind Catamaran range and Corsair Trimaran range along with a multihull brokerage.

Multihull Central’s Managing Director Brent Vaughan is pleased to have the Outremer exhibited, 'We are very excited to have an Outremer on display for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere,' Brent explains, 'Though many Australians have heard of Outremer, most have not had the benefit of stepping onboard or sailing an Outremer as most of them are either cruising, or located in the Northern Hemisphere, however we hope to change that this year and we are certain the boat will impress.'

The Outremer will be on display alongside a brand new Seawind 1250 and Seawind 1000XL2 catamarans plus a Corsair Dash MK trimaran, all recently imported. All boats on display will be available for sea trials after the boat show.
