Optimist World Championship - Tough Day 7 + Video

On Optimist World Championship 2012 seventh day of racing only one race was completed for the two groups out of four. The Singaporeans are now leading in both men’s and women’s fleet.

The day would be remembered as a tough one, for the race committee that could not set up the race course, and for the sailors that had to wait for six hours with half of them without even racing.

The day started with a nice breeze from the East that would build up to 15 knots during noon. However, the clouds that were passing by did not leave the wind to stabilize.

In the one and only race of the day for the red and green groups, Singapore was the absolute leader with its sailors scoring first and second. So, they are now leading with four sailors in the top five and a safe lead in the fight for the medals.

Two days remain, and the only chance to see another nation on the podium is Bart Lambriex from the Netherlands. He is fourth and has a stable performance until now. Will he manage to beat the Singaporeans? Time will show.
