Opal Marine, the UK's largest yacht distributor joined forces with the British and International Sailors' Society to host the 2006 Children's Party at this year's London Boat Show. On Saturday January 7 Opal Marine provided free cake, face painting and creative activities with prize draws for all children attending the show.

Julian Gowing, MD of Opal Marine commented, 'Opal Marine's reputation for distributing affordable, family cruising yachts provides its strong link with getting children on the water. Young families are already cruising onboard Bavarias, Legends and Island Packets, but more children can enjoy the sailing experience.'

The yachting industry needs to encourage interest from the younger generation and develop ample opportunity for children to understand the fun ethos and strong team ethic sailing offers. Opal Marine is very happy to have the support of the British and International Sailors' Society, the oldest maritime society in the world dating back to 1818, aiding seafarers regardless of colour race, creed or faith.

The charity highlighted their 2006 fund raising initiative known as 'Wear Woolly Hat to Work Week' through a colouring competition.

Julian Gowing joined in the party atmosphere having his face painted like a tiger, whilst getting to know some of the younger guests on the Opal Marine stand.

Opal Marine also has three ipod nanos up for grabs, entry details on Stand N1499, prizes will be drawn on the final weekend of the show.
