O’Pen BIC Hi-Wind Slalom to take place off Marina Green

by Nevin Sayre on 5 Aug 2013
O’Pen BIC Christian Chardon
Twenty lucky youth sailors will compete in San Francisco on August 17-18 in the O’Pen BIC Hi-Wind Slalom, directly off the America’s Cup Village at the Marina Green. O'Pen BIC racing will be part of the AC Open race series, and will be held immediately before and after the AC72 races in the Louis Vuitton Cup Challenger Finals.

O’Pen BIC sailors from New Zealand, Bermuda, Hawaii and representing different regions of the continental U.S. will be battling it out over a series of challenging slalom courses. The largest spectator crowd ever to witness a junior sailing event is expected. Like the America’s Cup itself, the O’Pen BICs will showcase a new era for Junior Sailing with short, high-speed courses, lots of action, and helmets required.
