Aussies in Action

Mat Belcher and Will Ryan, 2014 ISAF Sailing World Cup Hyeres  Australian Sailing Team
The Sail-World Team is on the Cote d'Azur in France at the moment, where the Australian Sailing Team and Sailing Squad sailors are amongst 1111 from 59 Nations competing at the final World Cup event in Hyeres on the 2013-2014 circuit.

It's picture postcard sailing, blazing blue skies and 23-24 degrees, as of this morning Australia, with Matt Belcher and Will Ryan leading the 470 Men's, as we've come to expect, Tom Burton leading the Laser fleet with the Australian Laser squad in close support while Darren Bundock and Nina Curtis are now leading the 77 boat Nacra 17 fleet.

We are expecting London 49 Gold Medallists Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen to move forward from their seventh of last night. The shell-shocked look on Nathan's face as he came ashore after a 5, 32, 23 day, two days ago is not what I want to see again.

Been talking to Laser Radial sailor Ashley Stoddert over the last few days, she was beaming after her first World Cup race win. With two days of racing and the medal rounds to go, fingers and toes are crossed for her best ever result.

Yesterday we talked to Stephen Parks (Sparky), the British Team Manager at length, we have published that interview in two parts, see below.

Been talking to the Australian Finn Squad and the Laser squad too, more from them over the next few days.

Up ahead our Rio campaigners have their respective European titles, then the top two crews in most classes will be off to the Rio test event, then it's back to Spain for the Santander Worlds on the Bay of Biscay in September.

News from the Extreme Sailing Series circuit where young David Gilmour is to skipper GAC Pindar in Act 3 in Qingdao China, taking over from fellow Australian Save Jarvin.

As we type this editorial David is out on the 49er course here in Hyeres, we will catch up with him in the morning.

Lots of news, video and pix again today.
