America's Cup, 18's, new sponsors for Sail Port Stephens and more

Mat Belcher, the 2013 Rolex ISAF World Sailor of Year, Olympic Champion, five-time World 470 Champion and quadruple 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup winner, will lead Team Australia's first training sessions on Sydney Harbour from March to June 2014 with Oracle USA, although he will continue his Rio Olympic 470 campaign. Belcher is looking forward to campaigning the new AC60-65, he is not just a 470 champion, he has been on the foils since he won the Moth Australian titles in 2008 and was third at the 2008 Moth Worlds.

His next Olympic class event will be the Princesa Sofia Regatta in Palma, Mallorca Spain in late March. The Sail-World team will be on the water in Palma to report on this important event.

Paul Bieker is one of the core designers credited with 'super-charging' Oracle Team USA's 'USA 17' last September during the 34th America's Cup.

Sail-World's USA Editor David Schmidt recently caught up with Bieker at a local Seattle pub to get his thoughts on how AC34 was won, his design role for AC35, as well as his thoughts on the future of America's Cup Racing.

Seve Jarvin moved a step closer to equalling Iain Murray's record when he steered Gotta Love It 7 to victory in today's Race 5 of the 2014 JJ Giltinan 18ft Skiff Championship on Sydney Harbour.

Iain Murray won six championships between 1977 and 1982, inclusive, and Jarvin is set to equal that achievement as a skipper if Gotta Love It 7 can close out this regatta on the weekend.

Pantaenius, the newest player in the Asia-Pacific boating insurance market, has signed on as the title sponsor of two components of Sail Port Stephens; the three-day Port Stephens Trophy April 11–13 for Performance Racing and Performing Cruising divisions and the PHS scored Commodores Cup

April 14-16 for cruising divisions.
