18 footers, Clipper, Farr 40, Spithill and Australian Youth Champs

Another big weekend for Australian sailing.... In the Australian 18ft Skiff Nationals, Asko Appliance, the former Gotta Luv It 7 boat, with team of Marcus Ashley-Jones, Jeronimo Harrison and Ash Rooklyn, scored a very narrow win. A great series ahead of the JJ Giltinan world championships.

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2013-14 fleet departed Brisbane, Australia today on leg eight of the 16 leg race 4500 nm towards Singapore, thence to Qingdao China.

Transfusion, 2014 NSW State Champions  Craig Greenhill

In the 2014 Aberdeen Asset Management Farr 40 NSW State Title Guido Belgiorno- Nettis' Transfusion won impressively. Lang Walker's Kokomo finished second overall in the three-day inshore regatta, Jeff Carter's Edake finished third. The Transfusion team will sail at the John Calvert-Jones Farr 40 Nationals from 19-22 February, 2014, ahead of the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship, 15-18 October in San Francisco.

Jimmy Spithill Oracle Team USA skipper wins the 34th America's Cup  Abner Kingman

Over the weekend we have run the first two parts of an extensive interview with Oracle Team USA skipper Jimmy Spithill interview with ISAF Vice- President Gary Jobson.

The Australian Youth Championship, finished last Friday with the 2014 National champions crowned and positions on the 2014 Australian Sailing Youth Team secured. The 2014 Australian Sailing Youth Team will represent Australia at this year's ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship (Under 19) to be held in Tavira, Portugal from 12-19 July 2014 and the Australian team, subject to ratification, has been announced.

With the normal cycle of high performance progress, we'd expect to see some of this group representing Australia at the Tokoyo Olympics in 2020.

Sail-World will be in Portugal to report on the 2014 Youth Worlds...
