We know that they shrink wrap boats in places like Canada - it helps them survive the freezing winter weather. Now they are doing it in Bangkok - well, sort of. Build a shrink wrap tent around a big boat so that the new paint job doesn't get rained on. Sounds like a good idea.
Matchrace Thailand was delighted to welcome a late entry - Bjorn Hansen - who joined what was already a strong field. Wrapping up the first day as the sun was going down, literally, this event is rapidly establishing itself as the no 1 Asian match racing fest.
For the past few years there has been one major race boat builder in China - McConaghy's. Now add Hakes Marine to the list, and their first offering is a sexy-looking Judel-Vrolijk designed HH42. 'HH' stands for Hakes and Hudson - Hudson Yachts in Xiamen is where it's happening. Two boats in the water already, and the third in build for an Asian owner, as yet undisclosed. Watch out - new kid on the block very soon.
