Canada Racing News!
 | | 47 Audi Melges 20s, 2013 Miami Winter Regatta Joy Dunigan | In sunny Florida, 46 Melges 20 owners couldn't resist the lure of warmer climes and were on the 2013 Miami Winter Regatta start line yesterday, including seven Canadian entries and a few Canadian racers crewing on American boats. Perfect conditions prevailed on Day 1 with 10 to 15 knots on Biscayne Bay; it seems like the Coconut Grove Sailing Club is once again the right location in February for this popular event! Racing wraps up today, keep an eye for final results and stories on the website.

With the America's Cup events drawing nearer, we see action on the piers in San Francisco where Race Village construction is well under way. On the water, we have images of Oracle Team USA, the America's Cup defender, racing Challenger of Record Artemis during practice outings on San Francisco Bay; I look forward to the July events on the AC72's, beginning with the Louis Vuitton Cup on July 4th. In the meantime, the AC World Series, on the smaller AC 45 yachts, resumes in mid-April in Italy.

It's racing season down under and Victoria's Sandringham Yacht Club plays host to the TP52 Southern Cross Cup; check out results and images below.
Finally, once Bertrand de Broc crosses the Vendée Globe finish line in Les Sables d'Olonne later today, only two yachts will remain at sea. Tanguy de Lamotte on Initiatives-Coeur will be rounding the Azores soon after competing repairs on his yacht following dagger board damages that left a hole in the hull. Further back, Alessandro di Benedetto is not giving up with a little over 2000 miles to go and hopes to complete his first participation on a 14-year-old boat soon.
All the best!
