While we are all recovering from the severe weather of the last week, two sailing adventures are in the news, both in the Southern Ocean. One is happening in Tassy waters, the other is led by an Australian. Both have reached the half way mark and both are hanging in there, in spite of turbulent times.
British sailing hero Pete Goss reports on his half-way finished circumnavigation of Tasmania in a sailing kayak with his mate Andy Warrender - read about their dramatic overboard experience. Below South America, Australian adventurer Tim Jarvis and his team are recreating Ernest Shackleton's amazing 800 nm sail in an open boat to South Georgia to rescue his stranded crew. They've had every possible weather but they're half way there and spirits are buoyant.
Talking of Tasmania, the Van Diemens Land Circumnavigation Cruise is going from strength to strength. Peter Campbell reports that more than 40 boats have registered.
