Just today, I have had more than a handful of people contact me about amending, tweaking, updating and adding to stories we are running on MarineBusiness-World.com and our other titles, including Sail-World and Powerboat-World. In a jiffy, this can be done and disseminated to readers (avid, all of them) around the world.
This week in the US, internet media employment has surpassed TV broadcasting, having passed magazines, radio and other traditional media six months ago. Only newspapers employ more, and they are in decline, according to AdAge.com
The age of 24/7 news may have its downside (we seem to always be working/catching up with news!) but for those whose interests and livelihoods revolve around current information, analysis and results, your demand is creating a brave and responsive new world indeed.

Back to the news: We feature an informative piece on piracy off the coast of Africa and also prevalent in Asian waters. Dryad Maritime predicts that despite industry optimism of 2012, the end of the South West monsoon season will see the resumption of pirate attacks in the Gulf of Aiden, impacting on not just intrepid sailors and container ships, but all of us as insurance and costs on goods at a retail level are eventually affected.
In the wake of a successful 2012 Auckland on Water Boat Show, there's a flurry of marine events on at the moment - Genoa in Italy about to begin, IBEX in Kentucky USA, and closer to home, Rivergate International Boat Show launching its first edition this weekend in Brisbane.

Along with a strong line up of exhibitors, there will be a massive program of interesting events for visitors including River cruises, seafood, fashion, and a special auction, Sunday 7 October under the expert auspices of Adrian Seiffert of Marine Auctions. Also in sunny Queensland, Riviera has announced it will commemorate its 5000th boat in 32 years with a special gala dinner and party held during the Gold Coast Marine Expo, November 2.

Riviera's state-of-the-art Coomera facility on Queensland's Gold Coast will be transformed into a five-star entertainment precinct, a ticketed event open to all boating enthusiasts who would like to celebrate this historic milestone with Riviera. It sounds like it will be a massive event, well worth the trip to Coomera!
