Welcome to Sail-World Canada
Looking forward to the Vendée Globe!
 | | Spindrift Racing - Krys Ocean Race 2012 Spindrift Racing | It's only been a week since the wrap-up of the 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean Race and I'm already showing withdrawals symptoms; the live tracker is now dead and the exciting daily action videos no longer wait for me on the official website. It's been a great ride and I already look forward to 2014; some skippers have already committed to returning then also and I'll be keeping an eye on their plans. The best VOR ever will be a tough act to beat in the future.
 | | Sam Davies - Vendée Globe 2012 Vendee Globe |
Although there is still 117 days to go before the start of the next Vendée Globe, the mix of newcomers and familiar faces on the list of entrants should make this seventh edition an exciting one to follow. Many of the IMOCA yachts are in the water, putting put through rigorous testing by their respective skippers; some, like Sam Davies, even share their daily activities leading up to the event via social media. Stay tuned for more stories, as we get closer to this fabulous event.
The Route Halifax to Saint-Pierre race and the Kris Ocean Race are now behind us, check out the results from both events!

Next on our agenda is the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge presented by Ackroo; 140 yachts from Canada and the USA are registered for this annual circumnavigation of Lake Ontario; the event caters to all tastes and includes the shorter Scotch Bonnet Island Course for newcomers and those who can't commit to the longer Main Duck Island Course; yachts will be racing in PHRF and IRC divisions, fully crewed and double-handed. The Lake Ontario 300 Challenge is also the newest stop of the Great Lakes Singlehanded Society solo circuit. Activities begin Friday with race check-in, first gun is Saturday morning; the race tracker by Yellowbrick will allow everyone to monitor the fleet. I plan to report from the water during the race.
Only 12 days before the London 2012 opening ceremonies! The sailing competitions will be hosted in the waters of Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour in Dorset and start on Sunday the 29th with the Finn races; ten medal events will take place over 14 days, six for men and four for women, ranging from dinghies, windsurfers and keelboats. The Canadian Sailing Team is ready; we will report on their progress with a full Sail-World team on site in the UK.
All the best!
